Some images were a little grainy, but it served our purpose very well. We bought this specifically for a trip to Iceland so that we could take pictures while in the hot springs, and out on boats. We had no issues with water leakage, we even dropped it in the hot spring and had no problems. Battery life was great, we only charged it once for our week long trip.

I'm pleased with my purchase. I have a four thirds camera and this purchase was to get something even smaller for hikes etc. cell phones are okay, but in reality I wanted something easy to carry and not requiring a bunch of different sized lenses. This works. Amazing zoom quality and the stability is very good. Mechanics seem good. I purposefully went with the 50 instead of 40 due to industry reviews. Wish there was a good case for the camera. The wifi connected easily. I returned the drop and spill warranty after review of the documentation that comes via email.

Long gone are the days where I had to lug a DSLR, multiple lenses and flashes in order to get good photos for clients. (I serve the construction market.) Enthusiast-level cameras do a great job and this one cost a fraction of what I spent on my last lens. While many clients are content with the photos they get from their iPhones, that's not what I want to deliver. In order to provide the quality I believe differentiates my services I need the control of a DSLR but I want the the compact size, low cost, and light weight of a great point-and-shoot.Here's what I love about this camera:
Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ300K
>The ability to shoot shutter priority, aperture priority, full manual, or full auto (with consistently good results in auto)
>Fast, quiet autofocus and zoom
>Tilt and swivel touch-screen monitor
>Very good 4k video
>A decent built-in, variable-output flash and a hotshoe
>The ability to shoot RAW
>A decent built-in mic and a jack (the sound quality is very good with the built-in mic although production audio rarely makes it to the finish)
>Quick cold starts and near-zero latency on the shutter
The only thing I truly dislike is the thumbwheel focus. It's slow, badly placed, makes pull focus and follow focus nearly impossible (although the auto follow focus does a good job), and after a half-century of shooting I can't stop reaching for the barrel of the lens.

The photo and video quality of this camera I enjoy very much. Easy to use and high quality images.
However, the microphone picks up so much background noise that the sound on every video I've made with it is kind of terrible, like a thick layer of static behind everything.

4K 60X Zoom Camera

I have used the camera for several months now and love it. I really like the zoom range of the camera from 20mm to 1200mm and it is my main daily carry camera. It takes great detailed photos and the noise levels are very good.

The is going to be a quick review on the camera and I will add more as time goes on. The FZ70 takes really good sharp photos, but hand held might be a problem in lower light levels. I went out yesterday evening and took some shots hand held and they all came out blurry. I should have paid more attention to the shutter speed.

6X LEICA DC Vario-ELMARIT F2.8-4.0 Lens

This camera is off the chain AWESOME!!! If this model had the larger touch screen of the FZ300, its constant f/2.8 aperture, and the weather sealing, I'd have given it 6 stars, not 5. For a difference of only $100, I can't for the life of me understand why they don't combine these extra features of the 300 with the larger image sensor of the 1000 for the PERFECT bridge.

I thought I would love the constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the entire focal range (25-600mm) of the 300, assuming it would render nicer bokeh and would be better in low lighting. Turns out the bokeh rendered by the 1000 at f/4 was as nice…in some instances NICER, than what the 300’s f/2.8 rendered. Even in instances where bokeh was similar, shading in the blurred areas was blown out on the 300’s shots, but not the 1000’s.

And that constant f/2.8 low light advantage? No. Not compared to the much more light sensitive sensor of the 1000. Even with the larger constant aperture, the 300 struggled in low light, forcing a much higher ISO, and the noise that accompanied these ISO speeds was horrendous. The 1000 handled the same lighting conditions with much lower ISOs and NO noise!

Panasonic Lumix ZS50 Camera

I've been looking for a good quality point-and-shoot light-weight camera that fits in my pocket, has a long zoom, has a good viewfinder, one that travels easily, and not too costly. Turns out there aren't many choices that fit all these criteria. I enjoy photography, am a highly experienced photographer although not a pro, and have a really good camera with interchangeable lenses, etc. which I use when I want to get top quality pics and need to have a lot of control over focus, depth of field, mounted flash, etc. However, when traveling by air, hauling all that equipment around, taking up space in carry-on luggage, etc. tends to make me leave the really good camera at home. With pocket cameras I've used, I really miss having a viewfinder. I find them awkward to hold steady, and difficult to see on the backside LCD panel exactly what I'm getting in bright light or when I need to follow and catch fast moving objects (e.g., flying birds), particularly when the zoom is extended. I've been frustrated when I can't get the pics I want with those pocket cameras.
Panasonic Lumix ZS50 Camera
So I went out on a limb, spent a little more than I had intended, and got the new Panasonic Lumix ZS50, which I preordered. I seldom buy new models of anything when they first come out, so for me this was a bit of a gamble. However, I have been pleasantly surprised so far with this little camera. It has an amazing feature set for something that really does fit in my pocket, has a good viewfinder and plenty of zoom. I have not given it a true test yet, taking thousands of pics under a wide range of lighting and distance conditions, so I will have to report back later.
